![]() Your mind switches over to ‘household task’ mode, so you up and start doing your laundry - leaving your professional work off to the side and forgotten as you ‘remember’ another few household tasks that you ‘should’ do while you’re up. It’s very easy to sit down to work and suddenly remember how much laundry you have to get done. Make a to-do list, then separate your household tasks from your work tasksīeing at home more is blending everybody’s worlds. Here are some tips and tricks to help you combat laziness at home: 1. When you tend to overthink most things in life and spiral at even the thought of compiling a to-do list, finding your own productivity AND keeping your home running at the same time can seem impossible. Overcoming laziness while at home can be difficult because your brain doesn’t know how to associate your environment with productivity when you have spent so much time utilizing your home as a relaxing space. Psychologically, our brains have trouble separating how we associate a certain environment from the task we are trying to complete with in them.įor example, if we study our college courses on our bed, our brain will have a hard time sleeping in it as it does not know whether to associate the bed with active work or calming sleep. However, now that so many are not only spending most of their time at home, but for the first time, doing their regular jobs at home, it has changed the energy. I’m not going to claim that all of these ideas will work 100% of the time for everyone, but give them a try and keep doing the things that work for you!Īre You Wondering ‘Why Am I So Lazy at Home?’Īs mentioned above, for most people, your home is generally filed away in your brain as a place of relaxation over a place of work. Therefore, both methods are acceptable ways of overlapping planks.ĭuring a telephone conversation, you indicated that you believed that a variance issued on April 4, 1975, for tank scaffolds discussed how scaffold planks should be overlapped, as per your first question. Section 1926.451(b)(7) states, "on scaffolds where platforms are overlapped to create a long platform, the overlap shall occur only over supports, and shall not be less than 12 inches (30 cm) unless the platforms are nailed together or otherwise restrained to prevent movement." The standard does not specify whether both ends of each plank must overlap the same way. Your question is whether both ways are acceptable. The second drawing shows the planks laid so that both ends of each plank are either on the bottom or the top of their respective overlaps (using this second methods each plank lays flat). ![]() In one drawing, the planks are laid so that one end of each plank is on the bottom of an overlap and the other end is on the top of an overlap (using this method the planks are slightly tilted). ![]() In both methods the ends of each scaffolding plank are overlapped with the ends of the adjacent planks. In the diagram that you sent to our office, you show two ways of installing end-to-end rows of scaffolding planks. ![]() This is in response to your Jletter in which you ask for clarification on tank scaffolding planking and if a variance issued on April 4, 1975, is still in effect. RE: Subpart "L" - Tank Scaffolding methods of overlapping scaffold planking ![]() ![]() ![]() Interestingly, most low-grade SILs were SC junction-negative, implying infection of metaplastic progeny rather than the original SC junction cells. The progressive loss of the embryonic/SC junction markers occurred with 'top down' differentiation during development, remodelling, and early neoplasia. A similar pattern was noted in high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSILs), suggesting that HPV infection of the cuboidal SC junction cells initiated outgrowth of basally-oriented neoplastic progeny. This downward or basal (rather than upward or apical) evolution from progenitor cell to metaplastic progeny was termed reverse or 'top down' differentiation. In all settings, there was a repetitive scenario in which cuboidal embryonic/SC junction cells gave rise to subjacent metaplastic basal/reserve cells with a switch from the SC junction positive to negative immunophenotype. Early in life, embryonic cervical epithelial cells were seen throughout the cervix and subsequently diminished in number to become concentrated at the SC junction in the adult. In the present study, we analysed the SC junction immunophenotype during pre- and post-natal human and mouse development and in the adult, processes of metaplastic evolution of the SC junction, microglandular change, and early cervical neoplasia. ![]() How this population participates in cervical remodelling and neoplasia is unclear. The cervical squamocolumnar (SC) junction is the site of a recently discovered 'embryonic' cell population that was proposed as the cell of origin for cervical cancer and its precursors. ![]() ![]() ![]() Street View is a great additional feature - having a photo of your destination makes it easy to find the building, or the parking entrance.
![]() ![]() ![]() Silk was one of the more expensive and popular items traded along the Silk Road: thus, the name “Silk Road.” But was it really the MOST important item exchanged on those trade routes? Have students read all or part of the Ancient History Encyclopedia article on the Silk Road and discuss the other goods that were moved along the routes from East to West and from West to East. How did the Silk Road get its name? Prompt students to speculate and talk about the unique nature and value of silk. How was the purpose of the caravanserai the same? Different? Encourage students to speculate: “ How might the caravanserais have contributed to the spread of not just material goods, but ideas and cultures as well?” As an extension, have students read Paul Salopek’s blog post from Out of Eden Walk titled “ Relic Walls of the Ancient Silk Road.” Questions to consider: What were some of the positives outcomes of the globalization encouraged by the Silk Road and the caravanserais? The negative outcomes? Did the positives outweigh the negatives? Next, in pairs or small groups, students should compare and contrast caravanserais to hotels, inns, or bed-and-breakfast establishments they have seen or stayed in. Have students use the internet to search for other examples of surviving caravanserais or imagined reconstructions of existing ruins, then elaborate on the distinguishing features of caravanserais. Explain that caravanserais were hotel-fortress hybrids that sprang up along trade routes through Silk Road countries. Reveal that it was, in fact, a “hotel” of sorts for travelers on the Silk Road. Encourage students to speculate on the purpose of the structure. Have students utilize Google Earth Street View to view images of Tash Rabat (40★0'05.25" N 75☁7'36.35" E), a well-preserved fifteenth century caravanserai in Kyrgyzstan. Have students read Paul’s post from the Ustyurt Plateau in Western Kazakhstan: “ To Walk this Wilderness, Carry a Shovel.” Use the reading to answer this guiding question: “ Why would a shovel be so important when traveling the Silk Road in Western Kazakhstan?” If time permits, have the students briefly journal about whether they would have wanted to travel through such a challenging environment as part of a caravan for the sake of making a profit. In groups, have students brainstorm what some of the difficulties of traveling through this landscape by horse or camel caravans would have been (exposure to bad weather vulnerability to bandits or scarcity of water, food sources, or forage for animals). Discuss the geography of the “Stans” through which he walks: steppe, grassland, arid desert, and mountains. As you scroll through the images of Paul’s Silk Road journey together, first have students search and fly to the location in question on Google Earth, then ask students to look back at the blog to make observations about the types of landscapes Paul passes through in Central Asia. Provide them with an overview of the Silk Road section of Paul’s journey using the map to the right of the screen. ![]() National Geographic Fellow Paul Salopek is traveling the globe on foot, covering 34,000 kilometers (21,000 miles) from Ethiopia in Africa to Patagonia in South America as he retraces the migration paths of our ancient ancestors. I went back to find the shotgun still available and at price less than a good used 870 express, so yes I bought it. I left it there until I read in Jack Oconnor's book about the skeet pattern being very effective for upland game out to 30 yards. I really liked the beautiful stock and vent rib, but when I read SKEET on the left side of the barrel I was uncertain as to what type of pattern it would produce. I saw this shotgun in a shop several weeks ago and looked it over closely as I was interested in a possible 20 guage shooter for upland game. ![]() Receiver is marked with Remington Wingmaster Model 870.
